Ms. Marufa Bhuiyan is an early career scientist, GISN Member and STEM professional at NASA GLOBE Program. She has over 12 years of experience in stakeholder consultations, grants & partner developments, literature reviews, and technical research activities. As a GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN) Member, she is mainly collaborating in STE(A)M areas, working as judging panels in international symposiums and coordinates with regional GLOBE, USA and Asia-Pacific
Besides, Marufa is working as a visiting Research Scientist with the Research Centre for Applied Science and Technology (RECAST) at Tribhuvan University in Nepal in developing various scientific research activities. Here, she recently founded Everest Innovation Lab currently based in Nepal, an EWC Regional Innovation Lab supported by East-West Center, Hawaii.
Before that, she worked with the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI) at the University of Hawaii as a Research Scholar from 2013 to 2017 just after finishing a fellowship Asia Pacific Leadership Program at the East-West Center in Hawaii in 2013. She is specialized in renewable energy, water-energy and space research, data analysis, modeling, optimization, and geo-spatial mapping. She previously held various roles in research and program coordination with SK Johnson LLC, Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), LPEP Renewable Energy, World Health Organization (WHO) etc. Most of the projects were funded by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), USAID, UNICEF, JICA, UNDP, SNV, KfW, DFID and Govt of Bangladesh.
She has received numerous awards and fellowships e.g. Water Fellow, Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) Fellow, BCAS Fellow, gold medal from Sonali Bank Associations, STEM Ambassador, Space Station Ambassador, affiliations with the Rotary Club of Dhaka East, Leonine Chess Club, SENCER Hawaii Fellow by National Science Foundation (NSF) and University of Hawaii.
